The 411 On Polo And Fun

Scottsdale, Arizona

As Good As It Gets: Perfect Weather Is Forecast!

SCOTTSDALE WEATHER

It’s less than two months away from the one and only Bentley Scottsdale Polo Championships: Presented by Talking Stick Resort. We’ve got the scoop for better understanding the game and how to best enjoy the festivities at Westworld of Scottsdale as we celebrate our 10th Anniversary on October 23rd.

THE GAME:

The Basics of Polo:

Players mount horses, traditionally four per team, but in our case three. By using a mallet they move a small white ball down the field until a team scores. This occurs for four periods of play, each seven minutes long. The highest scoring team wins. There’s often more scoring than hockey or soccer.

Polo Terminology:

Sound like a pro in front of your friends while watching the matches on October 23rd with such polo jargon as:

Chukker – one of the periods of play. There are four in a polo match.

Mount – a polo pony.

First Drop – the ball pitch onto the field that starts the play of the game.

Handicap – the skill level of a polo player or team.

Divot – the turf holes that have been kicked up by the horses.

Sideboard – vertical boards lining the field that create the space of play

THE PARTY:

So here is how to put some of that knowledge into action. Not sure which ticketing or table option is for you? Check out details below or visit ThePoloParty.com
