New Elements And Changes For The 2019 Scottsdale Polo Party

Last week we were excited to announce many of the details for the 2019 Bentley Scottsdale Polo Championships: Presented by Talking Stick Resort. If you didn’t have a chance to review the news that also included ticket pricing and sales for the event you can click here.

This week we wanted to zero in on some exciting new elements, something we always try to do at the world’s most innovative polo event. And we wanted to share some changes in response to guest feedback. Thank you in advance for being a part of America’s most attended polo event.

WHAT’S NEW?

*With so many DJs on site we thought adding an acoustic guitar showcase would be cool. So we are, in the Sanderson Lincoln Black Label Lounge at the southeast corner of the polo field.

*Everyone knows hip hop and opera, but what about “Hip Hopera?” Thanks to a collaboration between noted artist Ali Tomineek and the Phoenix Opera, you will during one of the periods of play.

*Prince Charles won’t be playing polo at the event this year but a club at which he is the inaugural member, the Royal County of Berkshire Polo Club will be. The team will be coming across the pond to play Melissa Ganzi and Nacho Figueras’ Aspen Valley Polo Club, the 4-time defending champions of the event.

*Thanks to Safeway Albertsons, a military match will be taking center stage on November 2nd too. Marines vs. Air Force

*On January 31st Americano! will debut for 4-weeks at The Phoenix Theatre Company for its 100th Anniversary. Based on the true story of a Phoenix undocumented immigrant who, after being denied a chance to serve in the U.S. Marines, discovers another way to serve the only country he ever knew. Americano! is one of the nation’s most anticipated new musicals in 2020. Thanks to the beautiful music of acclaimed singer/songwriter Carrie Rodriguez, Polo Party attendees will get a first look, and sound, of several of the production’s songs.

*The largest locally owned HOA management company, City Property Management, will be occupying a large tent at the far western edge of the field, hosting many of its clients. Whether it’s your own tent or working within other VIP tents, contact us for any of your hospitality needs

*People love meeting and talking to the polo players from around the world. So we are creating more opportunities for doing so. On Thursday evening, October 31st we will be hosting an all players reception at the Legacy Gallery as part of Scottsdale’s Thursday night Art Walk. Friday’s tradition will continue that evening with the VIP Preview Party at Molina Fine Jewelers. VIP ticket purchasers and event sponsors are invited to join all players in Al Molina’s beautiful boutique in Phoenix. Saturday, November 2nd will be the big day featuring four matches, the new elements and all of the old favorites you have come to expect. Then on Sunday the Arizona Polo Club will be hosting a Polo Clinic at WestWorld for those who are interested in taking up the sport, taking some lessons and possibly joining the club.

WHAT’S CHANGING?

*The date! Last year was the first time Saturday’s festivities coincided with a home football game at Arizona State University. Not this time. We have moved up one week from where we have been the past few years.

*Sound. One of our most popular ticketing options is Tailgating. It sells out every year. But last year some of our loyal ticket purchasers there complained about noise from the Riot House Polo Tent nearby. So this year we will be redirecting speakers to mitigate this to the fullest extent possible.

Thank you again for all of your previous support of the Bentley Scottsdale Polo Championships. We look forward to again living up to being “the best polo event in the world.”
