The Art of An Amazing Day At The Bentley Scottsdale Polo Championships

The 5th Annual Bentley Scottsdale Polo Championships: Horses & Horsepower is only 82 days away! In anticipation of the most interesting polo event in the United States, we’re counting down the best of the best – from players topuppies, fashion show to art auction – until the big day, October 24, 2015!

August is National American Artist Month, so we thought it only appropriate we showcase the BEST of The Picasso Pavilion & Larsen Art Auction – the Valley’s largest LIVE contemporary and fine art auction – inside the most interesting art auction environment in the country at The Bentley Scottsdale Polo Championships: Horses & Horsepower!

Sports collectors and art connoisseurs will come together to revel in The Larsen Gallery’s curation of highly coveted pieces. So grab your paddle or simply enjoy the action and take in the culture as there is sure to be a battle of the bids over our BEST featured artists:

America’s Playboy Painter – LeRoy Neiman

Known for his use of bright, bold colors and semi-abstract depictions of cultural icons, LeRoy Neiman is one of the most popular modern day artists. His original paintings up for bid are: “Tribute to a Heavyweight Champion” depicting boxing legend and close confidant Muhammad Ali; “Seattle Slew at Belmont” which includes the titular Triple Crown winner’s hoof print signature; and “Saturday Night Fever” that alludes to his time as Playboy’s contributing artist.

The estimates of each LeRoy Neiman painting ranges from $30,000 – $90,000 and will be highly desired by art collectors and sports enthusiasts alike!

The Modern Minimalist – Milton Avery

His signature modern styles and bold, monochromatic color schemes have made Milton Avery a favorite among collectors with minimalist tastes. His 1959 painting Bare Tree Green Sea, which is estimated to bring in up to $70,000 at the 2015 Larsen Art Auction, borders on abstraction, making it everything a fan of American modernism could desire.

A (nearly) Priceless Pair – Pablo Picasso!

While not American, Pablo Picasso is unquestionably on of the most prolific artists in history and a must-have for any American collection. Not one, but TWO rare Picasso graphics will be a part of this year’s Larsen Art Auction: A limited edition linocut, “Tete de Femme: Jacqueline au Chapeau de Paille” (translation “Head of Woman: Jaqueline in a Straw Hat”) is the epitome of Picasso’s cubist style and estimated to sell for more than $100,000; and an etching, “Minotaure Aveugle Guide pare ne Fellett dans la Nuit” (translation: “Blind Minotaur Guided by a Young Girl in the Night”), from one of Picasso’s most celebrated series, the Vollard Suite, is estimated to fetch $80,000.

Speaking of CELEBRATING Picasso…
